Apple, Microsoft may merge one day, says analyst. Wait. What?

„This is one of those unthinkable but absolutely possible deals,“ Fitz-Gerald told „Varney & Co.“ host Stuart Varney. „I think that Apple and Microsoft may not only have to work together for the next few years but may even see a merger in the next five to ten years from now because they’re going to have to take on the Google/Android/Facebooks of the world.“

Da will ein Analyst wohl wieder in die Medien mit der Behauptung… Aber unabhängig davon und abgesehen von Kartell-Problemen ein interessanter Gedanke: Apple ist extrem stark bei der Smartphones, Tablets, Notebooks und PCs (zumindest in USA). Aber für Unternehmen hat Apple – außer den Endgeräten – nichts zu bieten. Ganz konträr Microsoft: Mit Windows Server, Hyper-V, Sharepoint, Exchange, System Center und Office 365 haben die Redmonder alles im Angebot, was Unternehmen für ihre Infrastruktur brauchen. Und Windows 8 läuft eh nicht so prickelnd, ohne Windows Phone würde die Welt auch nicht untergehn. Also in der Theorie durchaus ein interessanter Gedanke. Und 1997 hat Microsoft ja Apple schon mal vor der Pleite gerettet.
